What is branding photography? And why your business needs it-done right.

Whether you’re starting a new business, growing, or maintaining your client base, you need visuals that reflect your brand. The hard truth? Fail to do that, and you’re leaving connection—and money—on the table.

You have a story worth telling. That’s where branding photography and video step in.

When I talk branding photography, I’m including both still images and video/motion content.

So what is branding photography?

Branding photography is more than ‘nice pictures’ or a good snapshot someone took on their phone. Spoiler alert—this is where a lot of people go wrong.

It’s a strategic and consistent visual representation of your business or personal brand across your marketing material, website, and social media. Through a tailored photo (and video) session, you’ll get visuals that:

  • Show who you are

  • What you do

  • How you do it

  • And why it matters

They say a picture speaks a thousand words—let your imagery speak with confidence and consistency that’s unmistakably you.

How is it different from headshots, lifestyle, or traditional portrait photography?

  • A headshot is one image—usually from the shoulders up.

  • Lifestyle photography captures real-life, candid, and relaxed moments.

  • Traditional portrait photography focuses on how you look. Many people mistakenly use this style for business branding.

There’s a time and place for all of the above—some of which may be included in an overall branding strategy—but branding photography goes deeper. It captures who you are and what you stand for through a mix of:

  • Portraits that show your authentic personality (often including a headshot)

  • Behind-the-scenes (BTS) action

  • Your tools, space, style, and connection to clients

  • Moments that speak your message and tell your story

Whether you’re an artist, musician, yoga instructor, designer, stylist, maker, or creator—branding visuals let people see you in your glorious creative element, not just standing still and smiling awkwardly.

Why is matters (especially now)

Let’s be honest—we’re all judging books by their covers these days. You only have a few seconds to catch someone’s attention. But when you do… chef’s kiss.

Strong branding photography and video:

  • Build trust fast

  • Tell your story before you say a word

  • Make you and your business memorable

  • Help you show up professionally and consistently—on Instagram, your website, LinkedIn, printed marketing material, you name it

Your visuals should be working as hard as you do—and they should be current and on-brand.

What to expect from a session with me

At Dave Haworth Photography & Motion, it’s not just about taking photos. It’s about capturing the experience of your brand—and having a bit of craic while we’re at it.

Here’s how it works:

  1. We chat – to get clear on your brand personality, goals, and to see if we’re a good fit (got to have that creative spark).

  2. We plan – locations, times, outfits, props… all the details that bring your visual story to life.

  3. We shoot – a relaxed, fun session where you’ll feel confident, not posed or stiff.

  4. I edit – adding post-production polish to deliver imagery that’s ready to use across your brand touch points.

Let’s make your brand look as good as it is

If you’re ready to ditch the stock images and start showing up as the authentic, polished, personality-filled you—let’s chat.
